I'm a rising senior and I'm worried that I'm behind on my college search. Please help me??
Major: undeclared
Location: I'm from NY and I'm looking at schools in the northeast like in between Pennsylvania and Boston
Cost is not an issue
Preferably a medium to big school with lots of majors since I'm undeclared
Gpa is around 4.03-4.1 (I don't have the official number yet)
ACT: 32
SAT 2 In Spanish is 670 (I'm thinking of taking bio sat2 in oct)
Decent extracurriculars nothing truly outstanding
Preferably a school with a lot of diversity
Schools I'm thinking about now are:
SUNY Stony Brook
SUNY Binghamton
UMass Amherst
UConn
Rutgers
Boston University
Northeastern
I realize this list is extremely short

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!!!

(Take these opinions with a grain of salt, because this is all second-hand info, as I attend none of these schools)

-BU has terrible financial aid, and as someone who lives in Boston, has many friends at BU, and spends a lot of time on and around campus, there’s not a whole lot of ethnic diversity. It’s mostly preppy white kids (this coming from somewhat of a preppy white kid).

-Northeastern is huge. Also it would be definitely be a safety for you, based on your stats.

-UMass Amherst is the best of the UMass schools, and students get to cross-register at other local schools (Amherst, Smith, Holy Cross, etc.), but there’s a big party scene and everything on campus is pretty dirty.

You could add U Rochester… medium school, decent diversity, good reputation, in NYS, fits your stats, and a more open curriculum to try a variety of classes while deciding upon a major.

Northeastern a safety??? I heard they’re getting super selective. I was thinking umass & uconn as my safeties. Also I will consider Rochester thanks

I thought about bc but I really don’t want to go to a religious school. I visited tcnj and didn’t like it. Thanks for all the suggestions I will consider them!!!

Intended major is undeclared. Family contribution is 100%. While those are great schools, I would prefer to stay in the northeast. Idk what would be an appropriate “reach” school for me.

Minor correction to theBeatles post - UMass Amherst students cannot cross-register with Holy Cross since it is in Worcester. The Amherst consortium is UMass, Amherst, Mount Holyoke, Smith and Hampshire
Also, BU is fairly diverse, so it is worth looking at the numbers and comparing it to other schools you are considering. It is true that its reputation was mostly white upper-middle class to upper class students, but I think that was probably a stereotype and I think they have done a lot of overcome that perception in recent years…
[Who We Are: Our Diverse Community » Undergraduate Admissions | Boston University](Community Diversity | Admissions)
Student Body* Asian American 14.0%
Black / African American 3.2%
Hispanic / Latino American 8.6%
International 11.6%
Native American / Alaskan Native 0.2%
White 50.6%
Other/Unknown 11.8%

Right now I’m leaning towards science but I also like he humanities so idk. That’s why I picked a lot of big state schools so I would have options

Northeastern is a reach/target for you given their new stat ranges. BU is a good target for you. I would add Boston College as a full reach for you. Tufts would be a good reach for you as well.

Maybe look into Emerson, Simmons and Emmanuel for other Boston schools that would be good safeties.
