** I know my EC's suck, but I'm trying to get them up Junior/Senior year

** School doesn't rank, but I have one of the higher GPA's, top 10%, maybe top 5% (school isn't very competitive, nice school district but not many kids go to Ivies)

** I have not taken any SAT's yet but I did get a 191 on the PSATs, which I know is very low but I did not study for the test at all, and also had never taken any sort of test like it. Since, I have been studying rigorously for the SAT's which I will take next year. MY score will definitely improve from the PSAT- SAT predicted score of 1910.

** I'm not sure what I'd like to major in, both History and Nursing interest me. I'm between like high school history teacher and nurse, random I know haha.

** I am Hispanic, not sure if this helps my chances?

** Female, from Pennsylvania

So, assuming all goes well (Straight A's, 5's on all AP Exams, successful EC involvement, raised SAT Score) what are my chances at Upenn?

Other schools I like:
Villanova
Duke
UNC
Loyola Maryland
Georgetown
Yale (for my dad but I'd like to go :/)
Princeton (Ditto.)
Pepperdine
UCLA
Pomona
Penn State (scholarship? My dad makes a lot of money ef's it all away, currently paying for college entirely by myself, dad makes $200k+, not a candidate for financial aid, right?)

Could you chance me please and also recommend schools that would be a good fit? And perhaps schools that would give me any scholarship?

Thank you!!

if u have a good essay and app ed you are going to get in, but i must say your sat is very low.

Unless you have siblings in college then I’m not sure if you would qualify for financial aid. Yes, being Hispanic would definatley help

Seriously look into the Schreyer Honors College at PSU… you get a nice scholarship just for getting in, which would make your college costs something like $18,000 a year, including room and board. Being from Pennsylvania, you’d be at least as connected and likely to find a good job by graduating from SHC at PSU as you would at Penn.

You slipped up sophomore year with A-s? Give me a break. You have great grades, your ECs do not suck, and you have no idea what your SAT scores will be unless you get a practice book from the library and take, in a timed setting, the College Board practice test.

Lay off yourself a little and everything will be easier.

Being Hispanic definitely helps for any top college you apply to since it qualifies you as an URM (under represented minority).

If it gives you any hope, I also got around 190 on PSAT, but after some practice I eventually got 2300 on SAT.

Good luck with everything!

Oh yea, and tell your dad that i told him to lay off your back!
=D
