Please help me, I'm going mental!

Ok, that was just so that you'd read :D

So...I got into Michigan - Ann Arbor & Emory. I am majorly confused between the two. Yeah I know, again.

I'm going to major in something bio-related but not completely sure about this yet.
Finances are not a problem.
Weather is not a problem either.
Location is not a problem either :D

I want to do lots of research.
I'm not the party type at all. Fun to me just means going to an occasional party and hanging out with my friends.

I don't like big colleges...I think I would be overwhelmed by Michigan's size.
BUT Michigan is globally known and has more research opportunities, I know.

Emory is much smaller and also has good research but not exactly a powerhouse.

I am definitely going to grad school, in the US.

Soooo...if you were me, what would you pick? Please give me lots of reasons, since I'm really very muddled right now :(

Thank you.

if its something like related to engineering like bio engineering , then id say michigan hands down. Also if ur sure u wanna go to grad school then id say michigan would provide u with better oppurtunities for grad school, they send theyre grads to all the top grad schools for nearly every field (med/law/business etc). Umich is also top ranked in alot of other fields in case u wanna do something else. Check out the first thread in the michigan forum.

I dont think size of the college is something thats gonna make u hate the place, i mean u can easily get over it in a short period of time. Last year 3 ppl from my school went there and all of em are simply loving michigan.

However if size is a REALLY big factor (it is for some people) then ud might wanna consider emory which is an excellent school as well.

Thank you!

Not engineering, no. Pure biology or environmental science or something like that. Like I said, not very sure.
Yeah I've read that thread in the Michigan forum and I know Michigan is a much more well rounded solid school than Emory.
But Emory and Michigan put almost equal number of students into top grad schools, which is what I remember from the WSJ Report.

I keep hearing that one can make Michigan as small as one wants to...but I'm still highly apprehensive.

This is really eating away my brain :(

Keep those posts coming, people.

Which school has ongoing research that you would like to become involved with? Check the faculty member's websites for their current research and/or their C.V. (professional resume). You could also just google them, or check them in one of the scientific databases.

Myself, if I'd go with Michigan. And remember, once you are in a lab you don't even know if it is summer or winter outside!

^Thank you :)
I'm heading to Michigan after all.

You should do what you want to.
If you think you should do more research,
then go to whichever school that can offer you more research opportunities.
Good luck! and happy everyday!
