Please help me - Is my acceptance going to get rescinded?

Ok, let me explain my situation:

I am a transfer student from a California Community College. I just recently got accepted to Cal Poly for the Fall 2012 term for the major Animal Science. On my application, I said I was going to take a general chemistry class spring semester at my local community college. However, I was not able to get into that class due to overcrowdedness at my school. I have contacted Cal Poly admissions several times and have received several different answers regarding the chances of my acceptance getting rescinded. Everything from “it probably won’t be an issue” to “you’ll probably get rescinded.” They told me to send them an e-mail about my situation and I did. They said there’s really no way of knowing for sure until I send in my transcripts, which I will be doing this week. Has anyone had any kind of experience with a situation like this? What do you think my chances are of getting rescinded? I have done tons of research on the internet regarding colleges rescinding acceptions, but it all pertains to high school seniors getting bad grades their last year. Is there anything else I can do at this point to help me keep my acceptance? Are there any other college boards or forums you can refer me to? Thank you so much for your help!

without that class, will you meet CSU-GE requirements? /Will you have 60 transferrable credits? Both are requirements for admission.

I really doubt they’ll rescind you for a schedule change. But it all depends on how critical the class is towards your admission. Without it will you still have 60 transferable units, your golden four completed, and major requirements done? If yes then I really think you’ll be fine. I’m also a CCC student and got admitted but I got a D in a class this past fall, and I’m retaking it at the moment but I still pray everyday my acceptance doesn’t get rescinded. The class was just a filler for units, and it wasn’t a requirement, but that D put me in a huge dilemma.

All in all, I really think you have nothing to worry about.

My golden 4 have all been completed with A’s, I currently have 77.5 transferable units, my current GPA is 3.83 ( on my application I put 3.77 because that’s what it was at the time), and I have met the CSU General Education requirements. I’m just worried because

1: I said on my application that I would take General Chemistry Spring 2012 (so it looks like I lied, but I really didn’t)

2: Under admissions page for Cal Poly website, it says for the major Animal Science, General Chemistry must be completed for consideration for admission.

I’m so worried…would they really rescind my acceptance over ONE measly class?? Why couldn’t I just take it when I get there if it’s that important??

my brother had his transfer app rescinded last year for not completing a chem class for bio. it says on the website that if you don’t have classes marked as planned your application will get rescinded.

my opinion - find a community college that runs on a quarter system and take that class there. that’s if you really want to go to CP. good luck

My acceptance got rescinded last year too for not having a course. This year Im all done though!

“my opinion - find a community college that runs on a quarter system and take that class there. that’s if you really want to go to CP. good luck”

I agree with Tacoma. My friend’s daughter was recinded from CSULB last year for not completing one “planned” math class. Her reason was the same as yours – overcrowdedness at her CC. I think you would need to take it Spring Quarter. I think summer is too late. De Anza College in the San Jose area is on quarter system (and maybe some other CCs ???). I would call Cal Poly and ask about my options. Maybe you could take it Spring quarter at a private college in your area?

Listen to ralph4!! Get the course out of the way in any way that you can. Start to communicate with Cal Poly now and get guidance.
