Please help me pick Dartmouth or Wharton ED (Will chance back!)

I'm at incoming senior in the Bay Area and my choices of schools are:
UCLA for actuarial studies
UCSB for actuarial studies
Berkeley for econ/stats
USC for econ/stats
UCSD for econ/stats
Boston College for Finance
Rice for stats
Duke Finance

However, my main school for ED is a debate between Dartmouth (for econ) or Wharton (and I have legacy from my gramps)

Grades:
4.34 Weighted (will be 4.39 for all schools except my ED school cause of fall college class)
Low 3.9 UW
Total of 4 APs, 3 weighted honors, and 3 college courses (my school is sort of a dick about taking a lot of weighted classes) so thats why I began taking college courses (should have been 6 AP's but we had a teacher problem with one of our AP courses and yeah screwed me over big time)

Class Rank:
School is not reporting ranks to colleges but in a class of 733 people I am top 3% for sure (being conservative since I don't know my real rank thanks to my school's horrible class rank system) and I am very likely in top 2%

AP Scores :
Calc AB (5)
AP Bio (4)

Standardized Tests:
33 ACT C E:34 M:34 R:33 S:32 (one question away from 34). I'm retaking this October for at least 34.
SAT: 2090 (no intention of retaking or sending in)
750 Bio subject test (retaking) and have not taken math 2 subject test yet but I will.
Super weak part of my app but working hard to improve it greatly.

Extracurricular Activities:
[This is everything I have done. There are things that I am no longer a part of.]

-President of 2 clubs- one is FBLA, the business club and one is working with the Santa Clara Public Health Dept
-VP of Digital Business Academy
-President of the student company that was a part of the Junior Achievement Business Program
-Been to many leadership/ engineering conferences
-President of Community Advocates which is a county wide club dedicated to youth fighting tobacco use
-Played football and track for one year (separate years)
-Financial Officer for Science Olympiad
-Social Media Outreach volunteer for Vision Literacy a nonprofit dedicated to teaching adults English (5 hours a week)
-Lots of community service

Main Commitments:
-Project Manager of a Marketing Team for Camara, an international nonprofit centered around education
-In charge of managing a Congressional Campaign in the city I live in for 2 months
-ASB CLOG Commissioner (I'm in charge of handling all the clubs and organizations at my school)
-Started and am CEO of a nonprofit I started with a few friends centered around education and computer science

I have close bonds with my bosses, advisers, counselors, and teachers and since my app is the first one they're probably gonna be at least decently good.

I am really banking on my EC's to carry me in. As you can see I put almost all my time into my EC's and I don't spend too much time on academics. But yeah I seriously cannot decide between Dartmouth and Wharton ED. No one from my school or area in general applies to Dartmouth ED or even Dartmouth at all. And all of the top kids go for engineering or med hence my area (other than me) so hopefully that'll help. And this year we have 2 kids other than me applying for Wharton.

Please help me out!

No opinion on either ( but I have a daughter at dartmouth…beautiful, wonderful place.) But why would you retake a 750 bio subject test? That is a waste of time, not sure what schools see ALL tests, but if they see you wasted time retaking that…not a plus to adcoms.

@GA2012 can you elaborate a little more on this please? is 750 enough?
Thanks for your feedback

750 is definately enough. Retaking hoping for a 780 or 800 will be seen as a test grade grubber…my D was in admissions at a peer school to Dartmouth, and they would rather see a “one and done” and you using your time for better things.

Well, apply to both for sure. If all 3 of you get into Wharton, examine your financial aid and go from there.
But if I were you, as of now, Dartmouth is my ED.

(I’m only speaking from experience from friends and classmates who got accepted or rejected from these schools in the last two years)

You definitely can get in to UCSD, UCB, and UCSB, I knew people who had fairly similar grades but did less EC’s. There was a very intelligent girl at my school (ranked #1 student at my school) that got denied from Stanford and ended up at UCB. She fell in love with the campus as soon when she did a tour with them. But overall, UC’s seem like a very strong match for you. UCLA and USC seem more of the reach schools for you according to the info you provided, but it’s worth a shot. One of my friends from a Catholic school didn’t do as well as you, and she got into UCLA. UCLA seems a little bit more “forgiving” compared to USC, as I don’t hear many people get accepted from there.

Have you visited any of these campuses?

I think you can definitely can get into all of your UC schools. Dartmouth and Wharton may be a bit of a reach, but your definitely competitive at those schools. My highes ACT is a 29. How were you able to get into the 32+ range?

I think you are in at UC schools, definitely. Dartmouth is a reach, and Wharton is a higher reach. Nothing is impossible though. Good luck!

Chance back? <a href=“Rising Senior to HYS + Others - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1657297-rising-senior-to-hys-others-p1.html</a></p>

@njkid2197‌ I took 3 sections of one practice test and said f it I’ll just retake.

USC and UCSD shouldn’t be too hard, a high match-match.

Everywhere else is reach for everyone, but you’re definitely very competitive for all of them. Good luck!

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1690007-claremont-mckenna-duke-bucknell-grinnell-uofr-chances.html</a></p>

I’d apply ED to which ever one you’d rather go to. Even though they are both reaches for anyone, ED is binding so go for your to choice. If you don’t know which one you like more, do some more research on them. By the way, I think you’ll probably get into most of your list. Good luck with everything!

Hey! I think you can get into all of the UC schools and USC. Based on your stats you probably have a higher chance at getting into Dartmouth ED than Wharton. If you were doing business than I would say for sure Wharton, but both of these schools are such high caliber schools that no matter where you go you’ll get a really good education. Also weigh econ vs business rather than wharton vs dartmouth. Which area of study do you have more passion for? In the end it all comes down to what you like best. Sometimes the feel of the campus can be just as important as the academic aspect of a school.

Chance me back please:)
