<p>I got 1800 in my SAT with a 7 in my essay score. I feel my essay is underscored. I want somebody to go through it and let me know how else I can make my essay better.</p>
<p>I further wish to increase my 660 Math score to 700+; my CR to 650+ and writing MC to near 70, please help me figure out my weaknesses. </p>

<p>Why didn’t you print your essay?The instructions clearly mention so.Your cursive handwriting which wasn’t very legible could have been the reason for your 7.I couldn’t read much…</p>
<p>@smartchap: I’ve actually heard that cursive handwriting gets you a higher score, maybe thats why he did that?</p>
<p>^Well you heard wrong. There is nothing about the style of handwriting that factors into the rubric of essay scoring. You are quite mistaken. SUCKER!!! lol</p>
<p>The whole point is that the grader should be able to read the essay.Remember that the person reading your essay is not familiar with your handwriting.</p>
<p>^you are incorrect. If they couldn’t read his handwriting, they would have given him a 0. The fact that he got a 7 has to do with the content of the essay and nothing with the handwriting. While he could have written more legibly, I was still able to read it. Print/cursive doesn’t matter. </p>
<p>I’m going to keep the suggestions short:</p>
<p>Math-Get Grubers. Do all the problems. Do lots of practice tests and analyze mistakes.
Reading- Get Direct Hits. Memorize the vocab. Do lots of practice tests and analyze mistakes.
Writing- Look at RR’s Writing techniques for grammar and the essay. Do lots of practice tests and analyze mistakes. </p>
<p>Your score should skyrocket. I thought your essay was well written (better than my SAT essay and I got an 11) if it was a normal essay but the SAT has different guidelines for grading. Therefore look at RR. You are practically guaranteed a 10+ essay if you follow RR’s advice.</p>

<p>I think you should write in print next time, just as a precaution, unless you absolutely can’t do it. They pretty much encourage you to write in print unless your cursive is VERY legible, and yours really isn’t exceptionally so (mine isn’t either).
I thought your thesis statement (“Just as… discern things”) was pretty good, but I think you would have gotten a better score if you had kept the intro shorter (it’s more than half a page). Most of it doesn’t do that much to help support your response. The first part of it is insightful, but I think the CollegeBoard people really aren’t looking for insight or creativity… you’d do yourself a favor and save some time by not writing so ornately. I thought your Da Vinci example was all right, but to be honest, I don’t know if it totally answered the prompt (but I’m having a little trouble reading your handwriting… I even had trouble reading my own when I went to look at it yesterday). I don’t think I really understand your second example, though I guess maybe I would have if I were Indian… Your conclusion could have been a bit more tidy, and that last sentence really wasn’t necessary. Just my two cents… just make yourself learn the “formula” and you’ll do better next time ;)</p>
<p>Thank you all…I am preparing hard. I bought a McGHill’s 12 practice tests. I am reviewing Barron’s Math Workbook; for vocabulary I downlanded Rocket Review’s wordlist. I also have Kaplan’s CR workbook, hope to hit all the words before SAT.</p>

<p>I am not sure about writing. Since 11 years I’ve been writing in cursive, printing would only decrease my speed and make it look like gibberish. I don’t think my writing is that difficult to understand and discern, improper scanning must have made it worse. </p>
<p>Any other tips or suggestion? please give it to me I am in dire need for them…</p>

I finished Gruber’s 2400 too(almost the same) I am not sure if I’ll be able to get RR in time as shipping here takes 10-17 days. the same is for Direct hits. I believe Barron’s 2400 would supplement RR’s essay guidelines, I’ll be on it once I finish McGrwawHills Conquering Writing section(finished it earlier, reviewing it again).</p>
