please help me select a college! here is my criteria...

ok, i'm relatively open but i do have some preferences:

EITHER honors program OR decently good academic reputation
public or private, just 4 year
relatively close to the southeast, but if you have any ideas that fit this, post them anyways

not too liberal...but somewhat liberal or moderate is fine!!
active social life
either college town or in a city--just not like Sewanee or Washington and Lee which are in the middle of NOWHERE!

bigger than 3,000 students
must have Greek system
NO "dry" campuses--at least some partying, even if schools say they are strict but not in reality
preferably DI sports...but post other options here anyways

OH YEA, these are "out"
college of charleston
furman
clemson
vandy
wake forest
unc-chapel hill
tennesee
alabama
ole miss, all the miss. schools
florida, florida st.

UVA, W&M, Duke, UNC-Asheville, Elon, Emory, Ga. Tech, U. of Miami, Auburn & LSU

The answers are going to vary wildly without any sort of guide to where you fall on the stats-o-meter

I would say look into UVa.
Any upper limit here on school size?

LSU has a very selective Honors program, it's one of my final candidates. It meets all your other criteria as well.

William & Mary, University of Richmond

"here is my criteria... "

Here are my criteria OR Here is my criterion.

Sorry for being annoying. I just couldn't resist. I actually find it interesting that the singular is -ion, and the plural is -ia. It's the same with mitocohndrion and mitochondria.

James Madison?

SUNYs?
ie. Binghamton, Geneseo...etc.

The College MatchMaker on CollegeBoard is good for really big searches.

College MatchMaker - Type of School

james madison--what's it like? conservative, liberal, studious, party-oriented, big sports influence?

Dagny - I never thought about that. The mitochondria being plural. Hm. Interesting point.

i cant believe nobodymentioned Tulane.
your criteria apply to tulane on every count

The University of Richmond is slightly under 3,000 undergraduates. Richmond, W&M and JMU are all in the CAA athletic conference. Delaware is another CAA school, but it is getting pretty close to the Mason-Dixon line. CAASports.com—Official Web Site of the Colonial Athletic Association

I agree about Tulane--look into it, it fits all of your criteria.

Politically moderate. Pretty big sports scene, lots of school spirit, great marching band. Lots of parties on the weekends, but solid academics too. Only a drive away from DC. It seems to fit you perfectly.

George Washington?

yea i love it but my mom is PSYCHO and doesnt want me to live in new orleans because its "unsafe." but maybe i can change her mind...we'll see :)

I've known graduates from the Jesuit, Georgetown Law School out of the tiny Jesuit school in Mobile, Spring Hill College, the third oldest Jesuit college in the country.

haha i can walk to it from my house. a) im not catholic, but yea i know its not a requirement b) living with mother? take me far, far away. far, far, far, far away! thanks though i hear great things about the school. i cut through campus all the time to avoid traffic...i know thats really bad but whatever.
