please help me to find a college!

hey everyone

I am a senior in high school in NY. I have few colleges in mind but none of them are my ideal school. Can any of you give me some suggestions of where I can apply to?

possible majors: psychology, human resource management, nutrition/dietetics
GPA: 96
SAT: reading 580, math 780, writing 630
activities: math honor society, national honor society, SADD club, yearbook, interact club.
community service: tutoring
preferred environment: urban/suburb (the school needs to have a campus, not like NYU or Boston U), not too far from home (the farthest school of my list is illinois, or UNC? don't know which one is farther)
ethnic background: Asian (moved from China in 7th grade)
greek life: yes, but not too big
diversity: very diverse (I want a decent amount of Asians)
transportation: convenient

I can't think of anything else as of right now. Throw me any college you have in mind. Thank you for your help!!

how much FA will you need? have you run the net price calculators?

Maybe check out some SUNY schools. Binghamton seems like it may be good for you.

i liked binghamton but it doesnt have human resource or nutrition. thank you anyway!

thank you for asking i need a lot aid bc my mom cant support me to go to college so i have to pay on my own

first priority of any applicant is affordability. you probably can still find an ideal school that you can afford, but you need to go the financial aid page of any school in which you’re interested and get your mom’s help to enter the financial information to see how much money the school will expect you and your mom to pay. The Expected Family Contribution will vary from school to school, just as the costs of attendance will vary. Without this info it’s hard for us to help you to pick schools since you’re not going anywhere you cannot afford.

You yourself can borrow only $5500 the first year and 27K total. You might be able to add another 4K in savings from work each year. That won’t pay for any college, so you’ll need FA from the school in the form of a Pell grant and other grants and/or merit. Your SAT may not be high enough to garner you significant merit nor admission to meets-100%-need schools. Get back to us when you’ve run some net price calculators at the schools you’ve already picked out.
