Please help me, what is the difference between these degrees?

I am probably applying to these schools but I don't know what is the real difference between these degrees and what I would be 'getting into'. The BFA degree at parsons is actually for architecture design major.
I want to become a licensed architect, does this program at Parsons qualify me as one?

B.S. (ex. Northeastern)
B.Arch (ex. Syracuse)
BFA (ex. Parsons)

Please enlighten me!

Only the B.Arch is a professional degree - you can go into practice right away to work towards your licensure.

B.S.Arch is a step below, and not a professional degree - you would have to get a M.Arch after to be qualified to take the licensing exam

BFA is even further below - not professional, so you would have to get a masters as well.

Northeastern offers the M.Arch. degree in order to become a professional architect. It takes 5 years of study to be an architect regardless of which school you attend. It cannot be done in four years.

Thank both of you! I am definitely not applying to Parsons… Everything is so much clearer now! haha
and are B.S.Arch programmes how many years long? If I got this degree then got an M.Arch how many years would that be altogether? Or does it depend on the school? I am currently look at a 4+2 programme it is a B.Arch degree right?

BArch is 5 years.
BSArch+MArch is 4+2

At Northeastern at least, the M.Arch is one year after the Bachelor’s.

Thanks again!!!

In order to practice as an architect you need a B.Arch or an M.Arch. It’s hard to give you a black and white answer on how long either takes as different programs have different arrangements. The timing varies widely depending on the school.
