I submitted a college application a few hours ago through the common app but I made a mistake. For the the testing section, I entered my combined english/writing ACT score in the common app but it was for the September ACT of 2015. Only now did I realize that if the ACT was taken in September of 2015 or later, that the raw writing subject score is what should be entered and not the english/writing combined score. Should I contact the college and tell them my mistake or do you think that the admissions office will realize my mistake, consider it human-nature or minor, and not penalize me for it?
In order to calm your nerves I suggest contacting the college to inform them of the simple mistake. That is just my advice however, and you are free to let others weigh in on the subject.
I think the admissions officer will realize the error you made and not penalize you for it. They will be receiving your official test scores from the testing agency anyways, and probably look at those rather than the common app. You could always send them a quick email just to be sure- it can’t hurt.
