Okay, so just lately I've realized that I got myself into a mess because of my name. I'm Korean, and Korean names have two syllables, along with a one syllable last name. That's why all korean names are simple such as "kim" "park" "choi" etc. Mine's Ae-Hee Kim. And all my life I've been spelling my name with the hyphen, because basically both "Ae" and "Hee" have differnt meanings, but I can't just write it out as "Ae Hee" then people might just call me "Ae", thinking that "Hee" is my first name.

BUT , on my official citizenship card, my name is spelt as "Ae Hee", since their computer thingers don't accept hyphens i guess. AND the trouble is my name on collegeboard is "Ae-Hee"!

So my question is, when I send in my applications, rec letters, transcripts, etc, do you think the admissions people will get confused and mismanage my files? For example, some of my stuff will have my name as "Ae Hee", whille otheres will have "Ae-Hee"

What if they think "Ae Hee" and "Ae-Hee" are two different people ?!?!

I know this is lame, but I'm just really really worrrid

For the common app, can I write my first name as "Ae Hee" or do I have to put "Hee" as my middle name since on the official citizenship card theres a space ??

To anyone who took the time to read my stupid questions thank you soooo much and I would really really appreciate honest answers!

On the common app, the part asking for my parents' degree, do I just put B. A. or do I specify the major? For example my mom majored in Spanish so would I put B.A. Spanish ?! I've been super-procrastinating and I should've asked these questions way earlier :(

put it as ur first name w/ a hyphen on the common app...don't worry @ all about admissions people getting confused, it seems pretty clear
the only time I MIGHT get worried is if they send you something that says they haven't recieved a rec, transcript, etc.
other than that, I don't think you have anything to be worried about

I would have guessed Southern Baptist School of Bible Studies... but I don't know anything about religious congregations.

If I'm right about "Southern," could you possibly change S. to So.? You could probably shorten Sch. to S. if needed, since someone reading would probably expect "school"/"university"/"college"/"institute" before the "of."

I guess you could say we're splitting hairs. :-) I'm sure it'll work out fine, whatever you decide on.

Hehe it's Southern Baptist School of Biblical Studies

Thanks for the input! I think I'll change it to So. Baptist S. of Bib. Studies
lol I wonder if the admissions officers ever knows what kind of lame troubles us applicants go through!

dont you have to put your social on the form? they usually tie everything together by social because transcripts come in with social and /or sstudent id numbers

It's optional according to the common app website. I think they recommend putting it, but I can't remember why.

I'm a Canadian citizen so I don't have the American social security #
But I'm hoping my birthdate and adress will keep them organized
Argh, I'm counting the days when I'll be through with this tedious application process !
