Hey, guys!
I am new to this community and I am now in trouble. I hope you guys can help me !
I am currently a student in China and aim to go to U.S for my undergraduate study. And now I see online that some universities provide summer colleges for high school students such as Cornell and Harvard. But the tuitions are all approximate to 10,000 dollars. And some friends told me that if you go to the summer college, you will reduce your chances to apply for a scholarship because the AO knows that, if you have the ability to pay for 10,000, you must have the ability to pay for the university's full tuition. Is it true???

Please do not spend your money on these summer programs unless you have so much money you do not know how else to spend it. These are good programs, but they do not help so much with college admissions and there are many other outstanding programs you can attend, some for free (although most of those deadlines for application have passed). And yes, if you can afford to spend that much on a summer program, the schools will believe that you can pay full tuition.

^ I concur. Not sure about the paying for undergrad.

Okay…But I have seen that Yale’s summer session only admits 250 high school students and most of the courses are spent with college students. Is that prestigious?

^ if you want it to be, I suppose. You can take the classes locally for about $1000 or less and get credit (at a comm coll or university).

Thank you. I think I probably won’t participate in that
