Please Help Me!

Hello I am currently a freshman at Penn State University majoring in "energy business and finance" and I am going to apply to a few schools this fall in the beginning of my sophomore year to transfer in as a junior. I want to focus my major more towards sustainability and business and Penn State doesn't have what I am particularly looking for. My high school stats are unfortunately pretty average but I have been told that they will not matter as much for junior transfers. The schools I am applying to are Upenn, Villanova, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, American and Georgetown. Here are my projected stats and e.c.'s by that time.

Stats
-College GPA: 3.7-3.8
-36 credits from freshman year
-Essays will be of high caliber(getting help from numerous professors)
-2-3 strong letters of recommendation from close professors and one from admissions dean
-Enrolled in the Penn State honors college
-Dean's List both semesters
-Penn State Superior Academic Achievement Award(2 times)

E.C.'s
-Tutor at the writing center
-Residence Hall Council
-Political Science Club
-Ski and snowboard club
-Penn State Honors Society
-Volunteer at the salvation army
-Volunteer at habitat for humanity
-Volunteer coaching
-Volunteer at local state park doing environmental work
-A good amount of international experience in the past
-Attended several research conferences
-Research in energy economics at the University (hopefully happening next year)
-Internship at Peco Energy
-Intern and employee at local psychology firm 3 consecutive summers throughout high school
-Play the piano and baseball

Other factors
-White (Caucasian)
-Family Income $250,000 per year (no financial aid needed)
-Both parents have college degrees

-If you do not believe I am qualified please leave some advice as to how I could better qualify myself! (improve my transcripts and e.c.'s and what not)

-Please chance me and thanks for your time.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

bumpity bump

Penn, Georgetown, and Hopkins are all maybes, the rest I’d say you’re in at. (but you already knew that, I assume, so there’s no point in posting this…)

Okay and I was looking for advice as to better my app thats all.

Make sure your GPA is high, write great essays, get good recommendations…

…it’s not rocket science.

Okay thanks

How much will a dropped class hurt my chances?

Depends on how good of an excuse you have for dropping it. I think that if you don’t offer up any explanation, it can look pretty bad. Legitimate reasons for dropping a course would be medical problems, financial reasons, or other circumstances that impacted your ability to complete the course. I would include an explanation for withdrawing (if you do in fact have a good reason) in your application somewhere.

it was medical and there are some other factors but that is the main one. thanks for the input!

Will my SATs be more important than my high school gpa?
