What colleges in New York City are pre med and med oriented? I live in New York City and I don’t think I am going to be able to study outside state or even city. Please help me. I really want to study medicine, but I am not sure as to which colleges I should consider. Thank you.
No colleges are premed and med oriented. Some will provide some support for premed students. This came up with a 1 second google search: http://www.ccny.cuny.edu/premed/support-services.cfm
For premed all you have to do is take the premed classes, then do well on the MCAT. You want to go where you will get a good GPA.
and don’t go into debt
Are you lower income?
Do you qualify for EOP/HEOP?
Do you know your EFC and/or your parents’ budget?
What are your stats? (unweighted and weighted GPA, SAT score)?
There’s this:

However, you may well find, depending on your financial circumstances, that other colleges may work better. In addition, this can only be a reach because it’s so selective.
Does your high school library have a Fiske Guide and a guide titled “Colleges that change lives”? Both are a very good step toward learning about colleges.
No I am not lower income. I don’t qualify for government scholarships or many scholarships. My GPA weighted and unweighted is 4.0. I also took actual Queens College classes from ninth grade and my college gpa is 3.916. However my ACT score for now is a 23 and my Sat math score is 610, SAT reading score is 470, SAT writing score is 530. Do you think I have a chance for Sophie Davis? I am a minority, Bukharian. Also, I have many outisde from school activities. I am in the National Honor Society as well. I really want to get into Sophie Davis, but I am not sure if I could get in. Thank you so much.
Sophie Davis is one option for you. It can’t be the same, but you’re a strong contender.
Apply to Barnard. Your test scores aren’t competitive, but I think your odds are good they’ll forgive you these scores when they see your college GPA!
Another option is test optional colleges. Your school record is outstanding (college courses in 9th grade, and a 3.9 in those!!!), plus being Bukharian is a hook - when asked race/ethnicity, check “other” and enter “Bukharian”.
I’d go all out and apply to Bowdoin (test optional), which is outstanding in the sciences. Run the NPC to see whether it’ll be affordable - like most elite schools, their definition of who needs financial aid isn’t the same as most people’s (ie., even if you don’t qualify for government scholarships, aka Pell Grants, you should qualify for financial aid at most selective colleges; whereas the average income in the US is 55-65K, they consider 65K and belownot “middle” but lower income … because compared to the other applicants with high income, 65, 75, even even 125k is “low”… so the students in the 65Kincome bracket get a near full ride.)
Same thing with Bates, outstanding in the sciences, seeking minority applicants with a strong academic record.
Another top test-optional college that’d be thrilled to have you is Brandeis. Very strong in the sciences.
A bit less selective, Dickinson and Connecticut College are two strong schools that would likely be intrigued by your profile. Both offer good financial aid and merit aid.
Here’s the list of test-optional colleges:

Run the Net Price Calculator to compare prices.
When you say you don’t think you’ll be able to study OOS or even out of city, is it because you think it’ll be too expensive, or because your parents would worry? Because there are many colleges in rural areas where you’d be totally safe, not to mention women’s colleges.
Within NYC itself, I’d encourage you to apply to Barnard (excellent financial aid) and NYU Poly (which is supposed to have decent financial aid, unlike NYU itself). Another option would be Fordham but they’re not test optional.
