Hi, I applied to 11 colleges in CA and I’m freaking out because I atleast wanna get into ONE and my gpa and SAT scores are so bad! I have no clue what to do.
I’m a US citizen but I did my schooling outside the country.
gpa- 2.8
SAT- 1420 (June)
cr- 440
m- 500
w- 480
I’m writing it again tomorrow but I’m so underprepared. 6 months went by so quickly and I’ve done nothing!
My depression and lack of concentration are the reasons for my horrible scores and I really really wanna die, I hate to be a constant failure. Counselling and anti depressants did not help me, nothing seems to work and I’m just getting worse. My parents are trying to help and they’re a great support but I don’t know!
These are the colleges I applied to:
CSU Channel Islands
Fullerton
San Bernardino
LA
Long Beach
Pomona
San Jose State
Bakersfield
UC Merced
Riverside
Irvine
Please just tell if I have a good shot in any of these schools, I can’t take the pressure anymore and please be honest.
What is your UC GPA? http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Did you make the minimum GPA cutoff of 3.0 in-state or 3.4 for OOS/International for the UC’s?
Are you considered in-state or OOS for the CSU’s? If you are in-state, your eligibility index needs to be 2900+ but for OOS (non-resident) your EI needs to be 3502. Based on posted stats, you are at 3180.
If you meet the EI for the CSU’s and UC GPA for the UC’s, this is how I could chance you:
CSU::
San Bernardino/Channel Islands/Bakersfield: Match
CSULA; High Match
SJSU: Low Reach
CPP/CSUF/CSULB: Reach
First, please understand that many people on this site have cause to be concerned for you. What you’ve written is serious and unhealthy. I really don’t think you are ready to approach going to a university at this point. You can take a gap year and it won’t affect your status as an entering freshman. You need some immediate medical attention for your anxiety and your distress. Talk to your parents about seeing another physician, or go to a local college and see their mental health staff because this information is not healthy.
Please look at the CCCs too. If you can successfully manage your first 2-3 years and follow the transfer process, you’ll be in a better frame of mind to attend a 4 year.
I’m so sorry, I didn’t really mean to cause concern to whoever. I really didn’t mean to. I just wanted to know my chances of getting into a college. And I’m already taking a gap year and trying to get myself better, it’s all being taken care of…I’m still trying.
^^ All the more reason to destress and talk to someone.
It don’t matter when you go to college. (BTW College can be even more stressful!)
You need to be mentally prepared to deal with all of the challenges of a university lifestyle. Get your head ready first, then go forward with your apps. Good Luck!!
