please. help. me.

Thanks for reading.. i am a senior this year and basically feel like i'm on the verge of an application-induced nervous breakdown every waking minute. Well, it's not quite that bad yet, but you get the picture.
As of right now, my college list consists of:
Brown (ED)
Cornell
U. Penn
Tufts
Northwestern
UMD-College Park
U. Delaware
Georgetown (maybe)

I feel like this list is comprised entirely of reaches and then UDel and CP thrown in as safeties. While i wouldn't mind going to these schools, i would like to have a more balanced list so that my chance of getting rejected by every non-safety school I apply to isn't quite so high.

My stats:
public school
4.0 UW GPA, 5.5 W (out of 6)
rank: 5/251
old SAT: 1540, 800V, 740M
new SAT: 2180, 740CR, 720M, 720W.
(retaking the new SATs in Oct. after signing up in a moment of insanity)
SAT II: 800 writing, 760 math iic, 800 biology
AP scores: Biology- 5, English lang&comp- 5, US History- 5, Calc AB-5
This year I'm taking AP Econ, AP Calc BC, AP English lit&comp, AP Chem

my main academic problem is that i only have 2 years of a foreign language (latin) in high school because the school doesnt offer past latin III, and i didn't have time to pick up a second language after that. Also, the brown app says that 3 years are required- does that mean i am automatically disqualified, even though i have a latin I credit from middle school? in which case i should definately find a new first choice..

awards:
MD distinguished scholar, finalist
Bausch & Lomb science award
National merit semifinalist

ECs:
ok this is where my application starts falling apart.. i have some activities, but nothing that really stands out as amazing, plus i have very little community service- i think the school has 100 hours recorded, and then i have scattered activities that i've done for a day but never officially submitted, nothing that really adds up to much. wow that makes me sound like such a bad person, i care about the community i swear

activities:
junior classical league (9-11)
student government (10-12)
class planning committee (11-12)
literary magazine staff (11-12)
key club (10-11)
NHS (10-12)
NAHS (11-12)
weekend art classes (9-12)

leadership:
JCL secretary (10), president (11)
student gov't executive board (11)
lit magazine business manager (12)
NHS exec board, secretary (12)

summers:
camp couselor (before 10)
NYLF-medicine (before 11) yes, i know this program is crap but since i want to major in bio i am including it
lab internship (before 12, 35 hour/week)

OK, so the point of this incredibly long and obnoxious post was- can any of you recommend good fit schools that are: not super small, preferably mid-atlantic or northeast, liberal, with a strong science program? any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Wesleyan, Brandeis - matches (but not sure admits)
U of Chicago - will depend on your essay
Case, U of R (strong match/likely admit with good shot at merit aid)

You seem to be in-state for Maryland, so it should be safe.

Is there a particular reason G'town is on your list?

Have your GC mention that only 2 years of Latin are offered. It is possible that only having 2 years of a FL will hurt - that's why its important to have your GC mention that 3 years aren't offered.

Brown (ED)- match
Cornell- match
U. Penn- pretty close match
Tufts-safety/match
Northwestern-safety/match
UMD-College Park- safety
U. Delaware-safety
Georgetown-match

lion what are you talking about? Brown is not a safety for anyone. ever. unless you're famous. Your list is waaaaay to optimistic lion

On the topic of making a more balanced list, have you considered adding a school like university of michigan...a sold safety-match?

celebrian25, I didn't say Brown was a safety, I said it was a match. Yeah, Brown can be a match for people.

but it's not a match. It is a definite reach for him/her. And most of the other schools on your list are out of wack as well

celebrian, you're ridiculous. that's a match, meaning he'll probably get in.

realize that ee12 is apply ED, demonstrating his committment to Brown. That counts a lot.

a reach implies that the person has 10-20% chance of getting in. don't tell me that you think brown's acceptance rate indiscriminately applies to all who apply.

I've seen a lot of people with those stats get into higher ivy leagues. I'm pretty sure it's a match.'

In terms of a reach, tt would be a reach for the person to apply to Harvard RD.

Brown (ED)- reach
Cornell- reach
U. Penn- reach
Tufts- match (depends on demonstrated interest)
Northwestern- match/reach
UMD-College Park- safety
U. Delaware-safety
Georgetown-match/reach
