One of my good friends recently got into Cornell University and 2 schools in England (he's not from either of these countries). He would love to attend one of these institutions but none of them gave him any aid. Does anyone know of any scholarships still open that he could apply for to reduce his cost of attendance?]

He was so excited upon getting into Cornell and I know that if he got to go there he'd do so well. Please, your help is fully appreciated.

His best shot is going to be a scholarship from his own country. Many schools cut back on aid to internationals this year and it will cotinue until the economy gets much stronger.

This is true. Problem is there really isn’t much available here either, for the same reason. America’s problems tend to hit a lot of other countries too.

Are there any essay competitions or anything like that available? He’ll take anything he can get right now and I relly don’t want him to miss out on such an opportunity.

It’s late and highly unlikely he could make a dent in Cornell’s costs. Maybe he can defer for a year, apply to schools that may give him aid, work and focus on finding scholarships.

Cornell is a school that is not need blind to international students, so the ability to pay is a factor in the admissions process. Of the international students they do admit, they meet 100% demonstrated need.

IF student applies to cornell ED or as a spring transfer does so with the understanding that they are applying without FA.

When your friend applied, did s/he state that they would not need FA?
