I am deciding to go to University of Arizona or Penn State 2+2 plane or University of Oregon. My major is Biology and don’t know which one is a good option. I am deciding UArizona because it’s a good science/research university. Is UArizona good for Biology major? Please help. Thanks.
Net price and debt at each one?
The PSU 2+2 plan involves starting at a branch campus (most of which are like commuter-based community colleges, but more expensive and specifically for transfer to PSU Main – apparently the actual Pennsylvania community colleges are considered too inferior, unlike in many other states) and later transferring to PSU Main. Paying out-of-state PSU prices to attend what is basically like a community college does not seem to make a lot of sense.
@ucbalumnus Thanks for your response. I do understand that and have crossed Penn State off my list. Is University of Arizona good for Biology major?
If costs are similar between Oregon and Arizona, you may want to look at course offerings and faculty rosters to see what subareas of biology each offer and how they compare with your interests in biology, which is a rather broad field.
Oregon has a general biology major, while Arizona splits it into ecology and evolutionary biology versus molecular and cell biology (although the ecology and evolutionary biology department offers a general biology major as well). Both have biochemistry associated with the chemistry department.
@ucbalumnus Thank you. I have decided to choose University of Arizona. After all, I did get a good scholarship that is pretty reasonable to attend. Do you know any other places that I am able to apply for scholarships? I’ve been looking at sites, but have found some to be fake. Thank you.
