I’m not sure any of these are safeties…maybe IU? Some seem like matches, and WF could be a reach.

Anyway, in another thread you mention not needing FA. Have your parents said that they will pay ALL costs at a safety school? Some parents won’t do pay $50k-60k for a safety. Ask them.

You also mention wanting some merit. You might get $10k from IU, but I don’t think Brandeis gives merit and the others are hard to predict.

Those are not safeties, but matches, and due to admission rates some may be reaches.
(Any school that has an admission rate of 30-35% or less will be a reach).
Indiana Kelley and Santa Clara are probably the two “lowest” matches, but none in the list are safeties.

oh JEEZ. let me help you. wake forest should be one of your choices FOR SURE because it is an amazing school and very very high ranked. University of Richmond is also a VERY good school and ranked nationally high as well. if i were you, it wouldn’t even be a question. deff pick these two.

also, the thing with BU and Northeastern is that they are very average schools but for a ridiculous price. my friend’s father went to northeastern and said it was over priced for the quality of education. same with BU - there are tons of public schools and others that are ranked higher and half the price.

@Erin’sDad: the schools listed wouldn’t qualify as safeties for Op (with a 21xx/3.7). To me, safeties would be schools like SUNY Geneseo, UMass Isenberg, etc (and that’s not even tackling the “financial” aspect).

I was agreeing with your earlier post @MYOS1634. I didn’t check the CDS for those colleges so didn’t comment on that earlier but I trusted that you did.

Given your stats, these schools are matches, not safeties. You have a good shot of acceptance at them, falling at right about the middle of the pack of accepted students (NEU for example) or a little above (BU); however, you are not so overqualified as to call any of them a safety.

Sorry, I thought you were saying I wasn’t helping enough, so I explained how I couldn’t determine the best safety among schools that weren’t safeties… Got it now. :D

I know nothing about Brandeis’s student body so will leave that one out. Of the remaining choices, perhaps Santa Clara and Indiana, (full pay, OOS) but the others are matches at best, and more realistically reaches, especially Wake & Richmond. Northeastern added an ED option this year to their longstanding EA & RD choices; they have become increasingly selective.

Might replace Brandeis with Holy Cross-reat school for producing Ceo"s and HC meets 100% demonstrated financial need. Holy Cross has great alumni network.

The cost of attending is not an issue and I am ready to bear the entire amount. I’m an International student and I’ve heard Wake Forest isn’t the best for indian students. What do you think?

Okay, if not safeties, i still have to pick two out of these.

My math+cr is 1450

and Ive taken 2 APs, got a 5 in both and have an 800 Math Level 2 and Physics

I’m not sure why a Southern Baptist school (even if nominally) would be “best” for an Indian student. The culture is specific, very Southern. It’s a very good school, yes, but I’m not sure why it’d be an Indian favorite. :)

I agree with most everyone that these are NOT safeties, that said, Northeastern was a great school when my son and I went on our tour. Great town and you would fit in quite well. Wake forest definitely will be a reach, and pretty “southern” too.

The only real safeties in this list are Santa Clara and Kelley, so you should go with those.

What worries me in this list is that all the colleges you mention are very different. Santa Clara and Wake Forest, for example, are completely different environments, as are Kelley and Brandeis. How many of these have you visited? Would you be comfortable in all of them?
