A correction was emailed to my atteention today and my new efc is 16,000.
No ffigures have changed...evetryhin on fafsa is on my tax. Im so confused..and devistated. I already cant afford college....thats not helping. Plz help and explain what happened/happening?

cmon someone must know something:-(?

Really impossible for us to tell from what you have posted. Print off the new SAR and the original SAR and do a line by line comparison to see what has changed. Sometimes things that are not money amounts can make a difference in certain circumstances. For instance the type of tax return your parents filed (1040a or 1040ez or 1040) can make you eligible or ineligible for certain special calculations.

There must be something different. When you find it come back and tell us and maybe we can figure out what might be causing the difference.

call them to ask what they adjusted

I JUST DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS THE Student’s (myself) “Net Worth of Current Investments” line…my orginal fafsa showed my assests at 8,000 (which is correct) and university of michigan adjusted it to 50,000 + ??? (52,000). i DO NOT HAVE 50,000 in assets…what is going on?

Call them tomorrow morning and ask why this change was made. They do make mistakes…and they do fix them.

thanks…do you think my aid will change because of this erraneous error? they barely gave me any aid…only work study and fed. loans (5,500–not much)???

Doubtful since even the original EFC would not make you eligible for Pell and they have already awarded you the maximum in loan funds.
