Please help.
I am a female senior in high school, and have taken the SAT's once without any previous practice or training classes, or practice tests other than the PSAT. My scores were as followed:
CR: 670
MATH: 580
CW: 750

I am retaking them in October and have been taking an SAT prep class for the past two months or so.
I am in a VERY unique situation; due to schedule conflicts this year, I was forced to skip AP Calculus AB and go from Pre-Calculus Honors in Junior year to AP Calculus BC this year. I have an extreme passion for math and science, specifically physics, and have a challenging and full course load of those type of courses this year (AP Chemistry, Physics Honors, AP Calc BC, Robotics III, and Anatomy/Physiology.)
However, my college counselor just told me if I cannot raise my SAT Math score, I shouldn't even bother applying to college Engineering programs.
This is heartbreaking to me since it has been my dream since I was a little girl to be an engineer. It's frustrating that my SAT Math score is depressingly low and can prevent me from going to the schools I want, even though I am taking hard math and science courses regardless.
I am not sure exactly what I am asking for here, but I feel completely and utterly hopeless. I know I want to be an engineer, and despise liberal arts, yet I am facing instant rejection from the schools I want to apply to.
What should I do? Colleges cannot see my passion and hard work for math when I apply, they only see the 580.
Is there any hope that I can bump my score up 200 points? Please, I am asking very earnestly for some advice or help. I feel extremely hopeless right now.
