I'm currently in a dilemma concerning my senior schedule. I'm an IB diploma candidate, as I have taken full IB classes my junior year, thinking about dropping out of IB English next year to take AP English because I don't think that i will be able to get a 6/7 on the IB test. The way in which the IB score is an accumulation of pieces you've written and oral presentations throughout the year, and not just a test at the end makes me doubtful of my ability to get a high score since Ive scored low on two official IB assessment. I want to switch to AP English because I think that I can score a 4/5 and thus get credit for college, which means more money saved.

In addition, I'm really into math and science, and I've made it to ISEF twice, and expect to next year. I don't want to take 3 IB tests during ISEF because I will not score well as I'll be concentrating on both my science project and testing. With AP, I can postpone the tests until after ISEF and thus have adequate time to study and not be bombarded with so many things at once.

My only main concern about switching from IB to AP is that colleges will look at this negatively. I will be applying to top tier colleges, and since English has never been my strong hand i don't want this to be a deterrent to my application. I'm going to RSI this summer, and got 2nd at ISEF this year, so I will be primarily focusing upon that when I apply.

Please give me some advice on what I should do! Thanks!
