going duke early decision and looking at other top schools. I received a 31 ACT (34 M 30 R 29 E 31 S) and 2100 sat (660 M 660 CR 780 W) i will major in economics..which score should I send? I really do not know which one looks better for me. I also recieved a 740 on math II and 720 in us history. please help, thanks!

Normally I’d guess that it wouldn’t matter which you sent (or if you sent both), but I might think about sending the ACT in your case. Many schools look at the CR/M breakdown without the writing part, and that scenario seriously hurts you.

You probably want to wait for someone who actually knows what they’re talking about to respond (me = in high school), but basically, your ACT is better than your SAT but a fairly small margain. Make of that what you will.

You have conflicting scores - better Math on ACT and better writing on SAT. So sending both might give a better impression. Sending SAT requires you to send any SAT IIs.

thanks guys. I just took the sat again today and im just hoping for a higher math score

send act. colleges say they dont see all of your sat scores but who knows… sat writing doesnt really matter that much compared to the other sections

Something else to consider if you haven’t already - sending your ACT will fulfill the Subject Tests requirement at Duke.

I’d send ACT because you have a better Math score, and like fdeb35 said, most schools focus on the CR/M.

right. but is it true that I can’t send my subject tests without sending the reasoning test? because to me they just seem like a good thing to include, even with sending the ACT

I’m pretty sure that you can still send subject test scores without the SAT I.

thats good. well unless I score higher in math I guess i’ll be sending my act…although its a shame to see my nice 780 writing go to waste

SAT went up to a 2230 (750 CR 700 M 780W). Should I still send the ACT to show the high math score?

I would send the SAT if they won’t consider your SAT 2’s if you send the ACT. otherwise, there’s no harm in sending both

Send everything. The scores are all above 700 and so subject tests should nt hurt you.
