Please help--should I submit ACT or SAT or both?

DD has a superscore of 1980 on SAT after taking it 3 times, including a superscore of 1200 on CR+M.

Superscore SAT shakes out like this: CR 680, M 520, W 780

She really wants to get into some schools that have middle 50% of 1250 & up CR+M, or 28-32 ACT.

She just got her ACT results back, and her composite is 28. Yay!

It shakes out like this: English 34, Math 21, Reading 29, Science 26

Here's the question:

Should I send ALL the scores, or just the ACT score and forget about the SAT? Please help...I want to submit scores ASAP but I don't know what to do. Thanks for any advice/input!

I wonder if she just sends the ACT score, will it look as if she didn’t care enough to take a test more than once?

FWIW, both of my sons sent the results of every test session of the ACT, SAT and subject tests they took. S1 applied to 5 schools, all matches, and was accepted to all. S2, applied to 11 schools. He was rejected by 3 very high reaches, wait listed by one, and accepted by the rest.

If the single score is well within the middle 50%, or even better, within the top 25% of test scores for admitted students for a school I don’t think they’re wondering why a candidate only took it once.

The 1980 SAT superscore is higher than that 28 ACT composite (28 equates to 1880) [Estimated Relationship between ACT Composite Score and SAT CR+M+W Score](http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/estimate.html)

I’d just send both and trust the colleges at their word that they’ll consider what they think are the best scores. Either way it’s clear math isn’t your daughter’s forte. But why hide the 780 writing or the 34 English, by only sending one?

Thanks! I’m sending all the scores. I agree that DD’s SAT Writing score is excellent, but unfortunately most of the schools to which DD is applying don’t even consider that part of the test.

JenPam- with those writing scores I’d definitely look for her to apply to some schools that consider the writing score. What schools is she applying to?

I find it ironic that schools will consider the CR score which tests the knowledge of obscure [syn: arcane, abstruse, esoteric] vocabulary while ignoring the W score which shows that the student can construct a proper grammatical sentence and express ideas clearly. Which skill is more valuable in the real world?

Some schools do a superscore where they convert ACT-SAT (or vice versa) to get score equivalents, and superscore (the best from each) accordingly. I know you’re already made your decision to send all (which I agree with), but wanted to mention the scoring detail (it is up to each school…in d’s case I remember Elon did ACT conversion to SAT equivalent…).
