its in northern california, so you won’t find that many great beaches, haha.

Yeah, there are some very pretty beaches within half an hour or so of campus, but they’re not suitable for swimming.

how far away are the fun beaches?

also, what is campus life like?

It’s an incredibly sunny and gorgeous campus except for a few rainy winter days. A trip to the beach isn’t typical, that’s more common of southern california.

Campus life is friendly, social, geeky (at times), lot’s of parties and clubs. And most students are very preppy.

“Very” preppy is an exaggeration, especially compared to east coast schools

well my definition of preppy is girls wearing dresses to class, sunbathing in bikinis, and lots of athletic guys and girls. i’m not comparing stanford to any other school, it’s what it is.

change91… im jw… do you know how cold the water is?

the campus life seems laid back… but the students do study as hard as those at other elite universities…

lol well i’ve never been to cali before ]:

im from DC so …

and i’m really worried i’m gonna go there and that it’s gonna be kids studying all of the time!

Omg! Stanford is amazing. It’s not a complete party school but more half and half. If you are in the humanities you will have more time to party, but you will have to go to grad school to finish your studies. If you do engineering (like me) you have time to party as well, but not as much, but you do leave with an applicable degree and have tons of fun! TONS!

^^ The weather is about seventeen times better than what we get, but if you want sand and waves, look at southern California.

it does get pretty cold for a relatively long amount of time (i’m from NJ)

there are very few people who study all day. most people hang out with friends during the week and go out fridays and saturdays (and some thursdays)
midterm and finals times are a little different, though.

water is pretty cold in Norcal beaches this time of year (around Santa Cruz)

i wouldn’t say people are preppy (in the East Coast sense). people are very California (i dont really know any other word for it).

frat row is a big part of the party scene for freshmen, but pregaming and room parties in the freshman dorms is common too. if you don’t drink, though, there are a good number of people who also don’t drink. personally, i drink once a week, so I like to have both options during weekends.

It’s awesome. except now… primal screaming… dead week… [YouTube - Primal Screaming](<a href=“Primal Screaming - YouTube”>Primal Screaming - YouTube) … zombies…

Yeah I wouldn’t really say people are preppy either - a large portion of students wear sweats to class, people are always lounging around outside, and there’s a pretty good party scene (especially at the beginning of the quarter).
