PLEASE HELP - UC transfer

hey everyone,

everyone seems to be ignoring my questions about UC on other threads =P ... so i'll just post a new one. to transfer to UCLA or UCB, you need to gain 60 sem/90 quarter credits right? so in order to transfer by the end of sophomore year, how should i pace my classes? because apparently if you have more than 80 sem credits you can't apply for transfer? sorry, i'm an international student who will be attending a (rather crappier) UC, with the hope of transferring, and i'm completely confused. please, PLEASE inform me on the following, as well as my chances of being able to transfer from a rather crappier UC with, say, a 4.0. THANK YOU so much.

Where did you read about the 80 credit max? I applied to UC(SD) with over 100 semester credits, and I was accepted. My credits were from a community college, not a different UC. I am not sure if there are different restrictions on UC-to-UC transfers.

hey, thanks! i think that might only be UCBerkeley, i'm not sure -- i think i was looking at the ucb website. so, when did you apply to UCSD actually? beginning of sophomore year?

most UC's have a 90 credit (semester) limit, unless you completed all units at a California CC.

I haven't had a "normal" academic path. Since high school, I have been in and out of community college--at one point I stopped for a few years (concentrated on business/work). So, I don't really know what "year" I am.

After speaking with a counselor at my community college, I found which general education classes I was missing and planned my schedule so I could complete them all (starting fall 2005 and finishing now, spring 2006). So, when I applied to UCSD in November (2005), it was as a junior transfer for the fall quarter 2006--I guess that makes me a sophomore, but not in a traditional sense.

@nicopico: ahh, right... now I think I remember reading something like that. My CC was in California.

sounds like you should set up an appointment with a counselor who knows what he/she is doing.

my school does have a college counselor, but not many students here go to california and she knows nearly nothing about UC schools and transfer.

thank you guys for helping though!
