I am going to be a senior. I’m planning on applying to NYU - It’s my dream school. I would like to major in Elementary Education with a dual certification in Special Education.
~ My GPA is 3.96/4.0 (unweighted) and 6.75/7.0 (weighted)
~ I took my first SAT in June and got a 1300/1600 (710 reading/writing and 590 math) – I plan on taking it again in the fall – I plan on studying much more for the math section and hope to raise my score to about a 1350.
~ I don’t know my exact rank in my class but I am definitely in the top 10%
~ I’ve taken all honors classes since freshman year and I attended a part time arts magnet school for freshman and sophomore year.
~ AP Classes: I only took AP Gov Sophomore year – I got a 4 on the exam
I am taking AP Physics 1 this year.
~ I’ve taken 2 independent study summer classes as pre requisites: honors geometry between f. and s. year & Italian 4 between j. and s. year.
~I’ve had an interesting high school career –
My mother suddenly passed away the summer before my junior year after about 8 years of struggling with metal illness.
I developed GAD which kept me out of school. I did homebound education to complete the required j. year credits – but I had to drop the 3 AP classes I was enrolled in.
~I am entering my senior year with the same rigor I had in my sophomore year.
