Please help! What are my chances?

I have a 3.50 GPA unweighted. It might be 3.72 weighted. Class rank is about 25%. 121 out a very competitive class of 450.

Freshman year: no honors or APs (I went to a magnet junior high school where they were not offered.) 1st semester GPA: 3.73, 2nd semester GPA: 3.892

Sophomore year: Took honors history, honors english, Spanish III, and honors bio/chem...the big drag on my GPA was calculus (I got a C+ first semester and a C second because the grading system was very challenging), other than that I had very respectable grades. GPA: 3.29

Junior year: AP US History (5), honors english, AP Chem, AP Calculus (4). First semester GPA: 3.66, Second semester declined because I got a C in Calculus - pathetic i know. GPA: 3.2

Senior year classes: AP Government, AP European History, AP Spanish, AP English, Physics, and Sociology. Will pull up GPA without a doubt.

SAT: 1400 old, 2120 new (I did get an 800 verbal if that helps)
-still awaiting SAT IIs

My admissions essay is pretty darn good, and I have several letters of recommendation.

EC's include: swim team, political activism (I am president of the school's progressive club), Key Club, Environmental Club, Newspaper staff writer, legislative page for the Washington State Legislature, extensive involvement with the local city council on planning and zoning issues, work as a lifeguard 15 hrs a week yearround and 40 hrs/week during summer.

What do you think? PLEASE RESPOND!

Looks pretty good to me, but them I'm not an admissions officer! I like that you got a 4 on the AP Calculus test despite the poor grade in the class. UW has just gone to a system where they look at the "whole student", not just scores and GPA, so I'm sure all those interesting ECs will help. Your senior year schedule looks great, just don't succumb to Senioritis. Get your application in early and Good luck!

A little off-topic, how was the legislative page experience?

Thanks for your input. Yeah, the calculus class I attended was so screwed up because the teacher graded it as if it were an actual college course at UW. As such it was far easier to get a 4 or 5 on the exam than to get an A in the class - there were maybe 6 or 7 A's out of a class of 40. About the legislative page experience, that involved 2 wks down in Olympia basically serving as gophers or clerks for the representatives. Sometimes we would be waitstaff for them in the legislators' cafeteria, now that was fun. While it wasn't all that academic, you did learn a lot about the legislative branch while we were there, and we got to see some very exciting live floor debates. If you are still in HS I would highly recommend it. There is very little competition to get into the program, so just apply early and you'll have a great time (you are even paid for it by the state, imagine that!).

Anyone else? Please give me your thoughts!

bump, anyone else? Please

Yeah, I'd say you're in. You have a good GPA, in-state, and a good SAT.

very good shot of getting in. I'd say 95%

Thank you guys so much, this has been really very helpful. Usually people have horror stories about how CC stole their souls, but this is actually a somewhat uplifting experience. Thanks again and good luck to you guys.
