For the Florida Public Universities, check out the State University System of Florida Matrix, it will give you the stats on the middle 50% of admitted students.

On the Florida schools, UF is a bit of a reach, since your GPA is a bit low, it’s in the lower 25% of accepted students. Students are accepted in this range, but it’s very competitive. Being a first generation college student does help your chances a bit at UF.
FSU is a match, but you may want to apply for Summer B, where your chances of admissions appear to be a bit better.
UCF, FAU, USF, etc, are matches and, based on your ACT score, will likely give you a merit based scholarship.
Here’s a link to FAU’s scholarships:

USF’s scholarships are automatic, while UCF/FAU will give out comparable $, they don’t state how much based on GPA/Test scores, like USF. Using USF as an example, with a weighted 4.0 GPA and a 32 ACT score you would qualify for the USF Directors Award.
USF Directors Award
$16,000 ($4,000 per year)
4.00+ GPA and
1360+ SAT (Evidence-Based Reading/Writing and Math) or
29+ ACT
USF also offers a few other scholarships that would stack with the Directors Award. Bright Futures also stakes with the merit awards from the Florida public universities. Make sure you get your paper work in (including volunteer hours) to earn BF!

Good Luck!
Your gpa is fine for UF and NYU since your ACT is strong. You would have a fair chance to gwet into both if you also have a really strong essay. For your essay try to write about something that will set yourself apart, especially if you can include an anecdote that is specific to you. Admissions want to see you in the essays and see what makes you interesting and valuable as a person. I know kids who’ve written about the death of a parent, how they absorbed their twin in the womb, their love for drag, and their experiences living in a Palestinian war zone and related to her love of literature. They all used anecdotes and spoke about how they affected them, how they made them unique and allowed them to become who they are.
Thank you so much. I’m gonna start writing my essay soon and I understand it’s gotta be a strong one but I just don’t know what write about exactly.
You didn’t mention what your results were on your AP exams or the ability of your family to contribute to the COA. Your GPA is below average for NYU, your ACT is above the average. NYU will want to see your scores on your AP exams. They also offer little financial aid. You can’t beat the Florida schools for COA.
