As a senior in high school, I have been trying to make my final list of colleges that I will be applying to; however, I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm having difficulties with finding target/safety schools.
If anyone can help, I would be extremely grateful.
I really want a college that is big on community service. I plan on working with children through education or medicine, but I want a college that has opportunities for me to explore other areas of study like perhaps writing or law.
I applied to Tulane (EA) and my highest reach school is currently Vanderbilt (which I doubt I'll get into).
My avg as of this year is a mere 88 and my SAT CR+M is 1430, SAT 2030, SAT Super Score 2050. I also go to a school that is relatively more rigorous than others in my city.
On the other hand, I have close to or over 1000 hours of community service within the past 3-4 years. I am very active in my local church in addition to having been a tutor and a camp counselor.

Do you have a safety you can afford, you are virtually a lock to get accepted, and would love to attend? How much can your family afford? What is your home state?

Clark would be a good match/safety for you. It’s near Boston and it’s very big on community service. In addition, if you maintain a good GPA, you can do your MAT for free.

Boston College is a Jesuit research university located near Boston. Community service and social change are really important to them! They have a graduate school specifically for social work. They have plenty of student outreach programs, with emphasis on habitat for humanity, poverty, etc. It might be good for you since you’re very active in the church, and have done lots of community service Here’s the info if you’re interested:

Even if BC is a match school (depending how rigorous your school is) and it’s certainly very similar in “fit” to Tulane, they don’t meet need as per their website.
Op: remember your safety needs to be a school that your sure you can get into AND can afford (= time to run the Net Price Calculators and have a talk with your parents if you haven’t already!)
