<p>so i need to inform csac cal grant and ucsd about the info on my first choice college i had put for calgrant. it was ucla but im not going there and my counselor said that im suppose to mail a form of the change. can someone tell me where i can get this form? the one i got in the mail was misplaced but i was told i could get it from the csac website however, i saw a form but it said my award can get affected if there is a change. but why should it? im just going to another school because i was rejected by ucla</p>
<p>It's probably not stated clearly. The thing is, if you shift schools but remain in CA, you can apply your CalGrant to a different school (including privates). Perhaps what would "change" about the award is whether the other school offers merit aid or something in addition to need, offsetting your "strictly need" award from CalGrant. </p>
<p>My D was awarded a CalGrant, but chose an out-of-state private U. It took the CalGrant people quite some time (a full year after the award was made) to "realize" that she was not attending a college in CA, & in the meantime they were simply holding the funds for her. They kept calling us and asking us "why she didn't want to use" her CalGrant. There's a long lag time, as you can see.</p>
