I am interested in going into Technology and International Affairs as a major. I can handle myself like a pro in interviews and have held speeches at national conferences so I am not worried about that, I have an interview with a CMU alumn planned. I know that will go well, and wondering if that will help my chances also.

Well your EC's and ACT's are decent, but I'm sorry to say that that GPA is a very serious detriment to your application, which you might already know. I would say that your GPA might not matter as much if you went to a competitive private school, but your class rank sort of hurts that; it's generally pretty difficult for anyone outside the top 10% to gain admittance. I'd say you're fighting a very, very steep uphill battle. The good news is that there are still some great DC area schools where you stand a much better shot.

Hey - college admissions are not all about the test scores and GPA. Your ECs blow mine out of the water, and I got into SFS EA(are you applying to the college? business?). You are definitely a worthy candidate for Gtown and I think simpson98 is just trying to be realistic rather than optimistic. You clearly show a passion for something, so be sure to play that passion up in your essays (both of my essays were related to one of my EC's). You seem like a future leader of America and I hope that you become one of my classmates!!!! Is Gtown your first choice?

I've said this a million times, but I really do think that Gtown cares more about EC's than scores and GPAs. They're only numbers. Your extensive EC's may be able to make up for your low GPA, but as always, it's a toss up.
