Heres the classes that I'm taking right now

AP ENG Lit
APUSH
Orchestra
Guitar
AP Calc AB
AP Physics B

So my counselor put me in 2 music classes... I'm trying to drop guitar out but she won't let me... Would having both orchestra and guitar look bad on my transcripts since its junior year? I can either take guitar or journalism but my counselor said journalism wouldn't count as a class and it would make me less competitive? I have no idea what shes saying .. She said guitar hits the a-z requirements but journalism does not.. Should I listen to her or will dropping guitar to journalism be a bad option?

No? It should be fine, esp. if you’re going into a musically inclined field (although I’d assume you’re not).
If it’s the az reqs you need to fulfill, can’t you ask her if you can just take guitar next year or sth?
I think the two options are both equally viable, so I guess just try to go with the class you think will be more fun (which I assume is journalism), although don’t expect everything to work out because counselors can get kind of stubborn at times.

No, taking 2 music classes does not look bad, many kids do it! I was in wind ensemble and jazz band junior year, which I then added AP music theory to senior year, for a total of 3 music classes that year.
