So I Have a month since i'll be taking a the June SAT and IM currently scoring in the very low 600s. My vocabulary is very good. Out of all of them I may get 2 or 3 wrong. But my main problem is the long passages. Please. im willing to do anything. I literally have the everyday free, like 8 hours free for each day for this section. My Math and Writing scores are near 800s and this is the only section I have not really prepared for. I have the blue book and ive only taken the first 2 practice tests. Please tell me what to do!! Any advice out there!

If you’re good on the vocab, try solving them reasonably fast. Then you can allow yourself time to carefully read and analyze the passage portion. I like to read the passage slowly and make sure I understand everything it says. Make sure you don’t catch yourself losing focus, it’s important that you absorb small details and that you don’t get bored with the writing. Remember to read the little part in italics at the top, it usually helps on a question or two. Also, the two things I like to remember when I’m going through the questions… 1) The answer is ALWAYS supported by some text in the passage, it is assumed you know NOTHING about the passage you are reading before you begin. 2) If you are throwing in your opinion or incorporating your prior knowledge of the subject matter of the passage, you are thinking too hard and should re-read the question carefully.

Practice definitely helps, answer every passage-based question in the Blue Book and see why every answer is what it is.

honestly, for the long passages you should just focus on skimming through the passage as fast as you can while picking up on what the author is trying to say and anything of importance(contrast, tone) then going to the questions and answering the line references first and then going back to the passage for the deeper stuff… well this is how I usually do it and I got an 800 in march. idk if it will work for you though… so try it out in the blue book
