Please Help

Hello all,
I just want some advice about my highschool career. I'm a sophomore right now. During my freshman year, I took six courses instead of 5. My semester grades were all A's (those include A-s). Also, over the summer I went to a summer program at a top boarding school. This year, as a sophomore, I am taking 7 courses. They are all Honors and one AP. I'm predicting that my semester grades will be either all A's (including A-'s) and one or two B's. I am also class president. Furthermore, I am applying to a boarding school.
What a mouth full! Anyway, my question is are these grades decent for a future Ivy League applicant/Boarding School applicant?

Also, my PSAT scores were low (153).

Thanks for reading! I really appreciate your responses. Please be kind in your critique but I want construcitve criticism!

Always,

How the hell is your life over? ■■■■■? Of course you have a chance at getting into an Ivy league school; you’re only a sophomore…

Are you sure? I’ve heard that it’s incredibly difficult now to get into an Ivy League school. Also, my grandfather is on my case about the fact that I took 7 courses and I wont be getting straight A’s for my semester grade.

153? srsly?

Yes; I didn’t prepare for it though. Also, it’s higher than freshman year’s.

Nope, no chance at all. Haven’t you heard? The PSATS determine everything, so basically you’re screwed.

Haha okay. I guess I’m worrying too much?

Haha harsh aspire2011. The fact that you’re already conscious of your college path as a sophomore is GREAT, in addition to the fact you’re a CC member at such a young age.

A 4.0’s the ideal ivy gpa, but B’s as an underclassman is fine. Just keep in mind that if you’re getting a few B’s this year with your honors and AP’s, you’ll want to lighten your load as a Junior and Senior as you should aim for all A’s and A-'s those years.

More advice: study for the sat/act and take the tests early and multiple times. Getting your first test scores back will give you 1) an idea of what score you wanna reach the second time around, and 2) provide motivation to get that score.

Try the ACT. I just got a 195 on the PSAT (jr year) but got a 30 on the ACT almost a year ago, which is a much better score.

I absolutely hate threads like these…really stupid

I think you might need to drop out of high school. You should consider becoming a professional homeless person; with that B is your class, you definitely are going to be a disgrace to society.

Seriously, I hate the people who are like this, and want to go to an Ivy. Get down to earth. No personal offense to you lolagirl30, but every other thread is like this one, and if you can not comprehend that one B in HIGHSCHOOL is not important/significant, then you probably should not go to an ivy.

Let the flaming commence!

And to puggly123^^^
if I am not correct, a 195 equates to a 1950/2000 for SAT, and a 30 equates to a 2000 SAT also, so its not really much better.

^Amen, dude.

^^Yes, but I took the ACT as a sophomore and the PSAT as a junior. Looking at ACT tests now, I think I’m more in the 31-33 range.

^^^ Amen to that!

Can i get a witness!?!

Can I get a hot tub?

And a that hot girl from attack of the show?

^ Olivia Munn? She’s not on AOTS anymore :'(

Where the hell is she?

Guys, cut her some slack already!!! What were you doing as a Sophomore??? Being as sophomoric as you are now?
The girl’s worried, and from her standpoint, asked a legit question. And though YOU may have seen it before and figured out an answer, she hasn’t, as a sophomore, that’s not a problem.
So the answer, no, it won’t disqualify, no it doesn’t help, you know the rest, balance your high grades w/ a rigourous schedule.

^^ She’s supposedly gonna star on some sitcom on NBC and she’s one of the correspondents on the daily show.

really now? damn I will miss her.
