I'm going to be a junior in the high school after this summer, and I want to get into a good college. There's only a year left until i give out my transcript. For my first Sat practice test, i got a 1540 on it which is horrible. I felt bad for myself and felt so sry for my parents, i didn't work hard at all, and now i think it's too late. If i can't get into a good college, i will kill myself so i don't have to face everyone i knew. I have big problems with vocabulary and writing; i knew english is hard for esl students, but still, i hate english. Everyone said that im smart but im not, i knw what i am, and i just feel depression all the time. God damn it i can't image what's going to happen one year later. now i have a 3.5 gpa right now, since i have all honest classes next year, i m not worried abt that. im an athlete which showing im acitve; i do volunteering a lot, and i will be the captain for swimming team for next two years. i guess that's helpful to get into good college, but i need to improve my grade. omg sb pls tell me how, i will be very appreciate, thx so much!

Well, if you are taking Honors classes that should help you bring up your weighted GPA. Also you can retake the SAT or even try the ACT. Just keep studying and trying, and I am sure you will get into college.

You know what you need to do to your best. Remember that “good” college does not necessarily equal that name brand college that all your parents’ friends will quickly recognize and know it is expensive and competitive to get in to. A good college is one that’s right for you; is one that fits you academically, socially and financially. Many students are not strong in every subject. If you are better in science and math, be content that your English scores are good enough and focus on preparing yourself for a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

1540 of SAT I is very good. Your scores can get you in the following colleges.

Harvard
Caltech
Yale
Stanford
Columbia
Dartmouth
Swarthmore
UPenn
Amherst
Williams
Duke
Chicago
Wellesley (if female)
Lehigh
Oberlin

Well,I’m sure you"ve heard of a well-known American President named Rouservertt. He once said,"The biggist fear is fear itself."So,KEEP CLAM!!!Don’t be worried about it,and you must seek back your confidence as soon as possible!

^^ I think the OP means 1540 out of 2400.
