Please Help?

During high school, my parents had talked me into becoming an electrical engineer explaining that it was a good career that brought alot of money. I was never money hungry anyway and always was satisfied with what I had. As time went by and I entered college, I completed about 1.5 years taking all the math, science, and other things engineering major had to in its curriculum.

I began to get tired of school and began to think for myself if this is what I really wanted to do and it wasn't. So I want to switch my major to something that I like and love to do not just something that makes alot of money. I love technology and like dealing with computers is there any major that I can switch to that involves one or both of these things? Please be detailed. Thanks!

How about Computer Engineering?

Computer Science/Computer Engineering.

Computer Engineering.

Ok basically I like to help people with computer problems such as if they have a virus or if something is going wrong. I was looking into becoming a computer support specialist. What major would that fall under and do you think this is a decent job to have?

You don’t really need college to be a technician.

If you want to develop tools to fight or detect viruses, you can major in Computer Science specializing in security.

Computer Science

Lets say if I don’t major in Computer Science will getting my certification be just as good? What would you guys recommend?

Get your degree in CS and then you have options. You invested this much time and effort, finish up with classes you enjoy, start a business at school fixing computers and by the time you graduate, you will be well on your way!

I was researching the major of Computer Science and realized it was mostly programming with programs such as C++. When I took the class at college I didn’t like it at all due to the fact that if you miss one little punctuation mark the program would never compile.

Can I be successful as a Computer support Specialist with just certifications or do you guys recommend something else as getting an Associates Degree?
