Hi guys, sorry i was just wondering whether you thought i would get into harvard. I have had my heart set on harvard ever since i learned to read. My guidance counselor says if anyone in my school has a chance to get into harvard, then i do.

Im already pretty sure that i have a good chance, but i hear that your site is very helpful. THanks.

Essays: really good: about experience of founding my club.

Reccomendations: the best one my counselor gave. She said I would fit in perfectly at any ivy league.

I would really appreciate any helpful comments. I am looking forward to applying regular decision. Hope to see you all in Cambridge, MA soon!!

but i go to a small private school named S.E.E.D.S. and they hardly ever give anyone good grades. also, harvard said that they compare you in the context of your own school.

also, look at drop65 (posted on 11-14) in the UPenn forum. He knows someone who got into UPenn without really good grades or extracurriculars or SAT scores.

Even if we excuse your grades, what kinds of awards are citizenship and perfect attendance. I think i won those when i was in the third grade. If this is serious, you shouldn't have put them on your app.

I got a 2 on the APUSH, but i never took the class. I just took the test because i generally do well on history. But i don't want to major in history, i want to do comparative literature, or something like it. Sorry, i should have made that clear earlier. As for the 1710, i was sick the day of the test. i did retake it this month though, and i feel like i did a lot better.

i really need some help though. if anyone has any suggestions, i would really appreciate it...

Well, i would say your chances are really really slim. But then again, i'm not an adcom, so my opinion doesn't matter. You should still apply, though, cuz your chances are 0 if you don't even try. :)

I was very very ill and had a lot on my mind. There were certain issues at home that i don't wish to discuss.

I notice that other people on this forum don't have high SATs too. I think that in some cases the admissions people will see past this. My other activities should be able to make up for it.

Think realistically;;; Most applicants for Harvard are top students with Godlike GPA and Godlike ECs. And I don't think Harvard has any quota on any school. Unless your counselor has explained about ur school's harsh grading system in her recommendation, they will not consider anything about your school's grading system (I am not sure though). But then, who knows? Harvard accepts many different applicants and no one can predict what will happen. So don't lose hope :)

i like all these yankee (or i guess their yankee, ive only seen posters from like MA and NY use them) slang words and phrases: "mad" cool or another favorite of mine "tool" lol; ive never heard these words used in the context theyre used here. one of my friends who went to a school up north said that the northern vernacular freaked him out at first lol
