Please help? :)

Hi everyone!

Like many students out there, I am a keen individual who has big dreams to attend an elite college. My top choices include Stanford, Columbia, Cornell, UPenn and Harvard. But, as usual, it is a tough process.

I am currently a junior in high school and as much as i know that this is a much despised thread in the CC community, could you please give me some feedback on what you think my chances are at these universities? your time and efforts are much appreciated :)

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH AND I LOOK FORWARD TO ANY REPLIES! :)

Ok, so here’s a quick fact. Nobody can actually tell you how competitive you are. Unless they happen to be Columbia admissions officers in disguise, the opinions of CC posters are totally irrelevant. If you think you are competitive, then apply. If you don’t, then don’t. And wouldn’t this question be better placed in the " What are my chances?" thread, which is exactly why they made an alternative section JUST FOR THAT? My two cents.

@AnonymousAnomaly

Well sorry then! i was only trying to get a few more opinions on the topic.

The previous poster has a point.

If you fall within the school’s admitted students statistics, you should be fine. Are your scores good? Yes! Your gpa is good too. Don’t stress. Leave the work to your essays because that essentially sets you apart from the other students. And please, ignore anyone who says “raise your score to a 2340+” because you should even know your scores are pretty darn phenomenal!

Thanks! Do you guys have any tips on writing essays? Do you think there is anything else I can do to make my application more competitive? I’m so anxious! :s

Just be you!
Of course, think about it really, REALLY hard! Think about what makes you different and what makes you special enough to be admitted. You want the school to know that you are deeply interested in the school itself and what they have to offer you.
Make sure you know a lot about the school so that they know you are truly adamant about the institution and about studying there.

Need more help, don’t hesitate to ask. I know this might be brief, but I hope it gives you a general idea if what you should write about.

@overachiever01 : Thanks! I know Stanford, especially, likes those quirky, really down-to-earth essays.
