Please help!

Hi everyone,

I'm an international student taking SAT in June. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and am aiming for 2300+. My English level is about 6.5-7 IELTS. I think I can get an 800 math easily. Also Writing does not seem very hard and getting 750+ must be accessible after some practice tests. However, I'm so concerning about CR, I really dunno how to master it. I really need at least 700. So, I've several questions:
1. What is the most effective way to study CR, in your opinion? Plz consider I have just 4-5 months.
2. Is 800 W possible? What do I need to do exactly?
3. Is a 5 month time duration enough for preparing in order to get 2300+?
4. Should I memorize words from word lists? Basically my vocabulary is weak.
5. Any tip? Your experience?

Thanks, in advance!

Have you taken a practice SAT yet? If so, how did you do on the reading section?

Instead of just guessing at what you might get, actually take a practice course and see how you do. That will give you a better idea of what you need to do, and give us a better opportunity to give you good advice.

Well, I’ve taken one: 480 CR, 560 W, 760 M

There is no universally effective approach to learning how to read critically.

It’s possible but unlikely. You need to determine what kinds of questions you’re missing and you need to address those weaknesses.

It would be hard (though, again, not impossible) for even a native English speaker to pull this off.

That’s what the “average” kid does. Of course, last I heard the “average” verbal score (each section) is around 490. Don’t bother with word lists.

Start reading quality writing.
