I was admitted to UCSD, and I turned in my FAFSA at the end of January. But on the Preliminary Award Notification it says that they haven't received my FAFSA....and they give a list of reasons for why it could be missing if I turned it in. When I first turned in my UC app, I had the wrong social security number but I changed it through the follow up website...could it be that this change didn't make it to the schools? I'm freaking out!!! Is it true that the earlier you turn in your FAFSA the better the package is? (i.e. more grants, less loans)

You can't correct an incorrect SS# using the online correction tools. You have to:

"If your SSN is incorrect, it can only be changed by entering the correct SSN on a paper Student Aid Report (SAR) or the financial aid office at one of the schools listed on your SAR can change it for you."

Get your SAR printout, correct the SS#, and contact the UCSD financial aid office and ask them how they'd like you to proceed.

From your initial post, it sounds like you messed up the SSN with UCSD. If that is the case, the problem is in their office and not FAFSA. If that is so, check your FAFSA status first at the FAFSA website. Make sure it's there and processed, then call UCSD.
