Hey! I have following problem. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could give me some advice.
I want to become a nurse.
My original plan was to get a bachelors degree in nursing. I did some research and I found out that it is very hard to get into the nursing school. Ucla only accepts 50 students a year. I have tons of clinical experience and good recommendation letters from doctors. My biggest worry is my gpa. Ucla accepts students for nursing with a minimum of 3.5. I am an international student and I struggled a lot during my first year at community college. I improved my English a lot since then. My current gpa is 3.4
I am aware of the work what I need to do in hospital. I have at least over 400 Hours of volunteer work (if not even more)
The counselor told me I could get another degree first (an easy one wih less units) She told me I could get a sociolgy degree and then apply for an acclerated nursing program.
Right now I live with my relatives in la and I safe right now a lot of money on rent and stuff.
Here is my problem. It is more a money issue for me!
The thing is if dont get into ucla for nursing. I need to apply outside of LA for schools and then I need to pay for rent and school. I don't have the money to afford it for 2 years to support myself.
I was now thinking what if I apply for ucla for a health related major (not nursing) and then transfer to any school within the US and apply for an accelerated nursing program, which is 12 months! I think I can manage it with the money and things to go anywhere in the US for a year. The other thing is nursing school is from 8 to 5 everyday. The schedule is a fixed plan. I can't support myself then.

Could you tell me which majors at ucla are easy to get it/less units?

For example I would apply for sociolgy can I pick the classes which would fit into my schedule? As like in comminity college. I work as a nanny right now and I get some extra $. If go for nursing for 2 year I don't have time to have another job.
This nursing accelerated program makes really a lot of sense to me and I am pretty open where to go for a year in the US.

This was a lot to read and I hope u understood what I was trying to say. :) thank u!!
