So im 15 and my family is from brazil but i was born in the USA ,but when i was about 8 i moved back to brazil beacause of my parents divorce . I have american citizenship and im the best student in my class with straight A’s and i wanna study in the states but i really need to know if i have to take the toefl test . just reminding im an american citizen but living abroad. Yes, the TOEFL has nothing to do with citizenship: if you live in a non-English speaking country and you’ve been educated in a non-English speaking school, you have to take the TOEFL. If you attend an English-speaking school, it depends on the college - contact them.
Being the best in your class isn’t sufficient, you’ll also need extra curricular activities (either with school or found on your own) and test scores (check out the ACT).
Even if you are a U.S. applicant (citizen), since you’ve received most of your primary and secondary education in a non-English speaking country, you need to take the TOEFL or IELTS to prove English Language Proficiency. It is also required if your native language isn’t English.
As mentioned by @MYOS1634, you will need to take the SAT or ACT to apply to colleges in the U.S. In addition, if you are applying to selective colleges, you will also need to take the SAT II (subject test).
