Please help

Ok so I have had a bad freshman year and first try sophomore year I have had 3 C’s but I have had so many family problems that I will explain to them. I am doing really well this trimester 4 A’s, 1 B+, and I will keep having an upward trend because I have found coping mechanisms and help. Should I just count myself out and stop doing the SAT prep that I’m doing? Also I retook a class and got a C in it, many absences problems likes I said, do they count the retaken C as another C?

Either way, whether you make it or not, the SAT prep will still help you. Some schools offer scholarships based on just your academic stats (GPA, SAT scores), so making NMF isn’t the only path to a scholarship.

@indianguy1 While NMF is based on PSAT and grades are important for advancing to finalist, it won’t hurt to be a SemiFinalist. If your grades make it hard to advance; your counselor can explain the situation in their reference letter; sometimes it might help. But more importantly, many schools will offer scholarships (and admission) on the basis of SAT scores alone. So the SAT might be just the thing to offset a rough start to high school. So SAT prep will still help, like @timbercreek16 said. Keep up the good work!

There are a decent number of semi-finalist scholarships

Are those C’s quarter grades? or semester grades?

What does your transcript (not report card) show? only year end grades??
