Please help!

I have been accepted to Brooklyn college and will attend this fall. I currently live in Europe and I’m trying to decide when I should come to America. Classes begin in the end of August, so I just come then? Or do I have to do anything before that. I’ve heard some people take placement tests. I’m not sure when I should book my ticket

Will you be in a dorm? If so, they probably have a date when you can move in. I would suggest moving in pretty close to as soon as they will let you, since it will allow you time to meet other students and to find your way around.

Are there any foreign student events scheduled for sometime in August? Some universities have welcome events for foreign students, and sometimes let freshmen and foreign students move in a day or a few days earlier than everyone else.

Make sure that you bring the right forms with you. We had an exchange student who had a problem because he thought that having a student visa in his passport was all he needed. Apparently there was another form that was used to get the student visa that he was also supposed to bring.

I’m actually a U.S citizen because I was born in the US and will not be staying in a dorm. Thanks anyways!
My concern is when I have to take the placement test (if I have to) and when I have to schedule for classes.

“… will not be staying in a dorm.”

Do you have housing already lined up?

“…when I have to schedule for classes.”

My daughter (who is a high school senior) already has some of her classes scheduled for next year (for a different university). She has already completed a placement test to help with choice of language classes for next year. Can you do the placement test on-line? Can’t you sign up for classes on-line now?

I would think that you need to ask the school about the correct timing.
