I am an international student and got admitted to the college of business today.
At the time of my application I did not ask for any sort of financial aid and scholarships but thanks to the current economic meltdown I think that I will need some sort of aid.
So basically my question is that what are the ways that i can apply for financial aid and scholarships given that I have already been admitted and more importantly am an international student.
I would really appreciate your help.

Congrats!
To start with, there is no financial aid for internationals from UIUC. Well there are merit-based scholarships which will use your same application for admission for evaluation. Hence you will be automatically considered for all the scholarships applicable to you.
The decisions about your scholarships will come out between March and April. So just be patient!
By the way, I'm an international as well and have also been admitted to the College of Business today. So excited! Cheers~

thanks mate for the information...and congrats..
what is the maximum amount that they provide for merit based scholarships?

UIUC is a public school. The needed-base financial aid to international students = 0. They might have some merit-base scholarship to international students, but my guess is that, even they do, the funding would be very much limited.

Even with outstanding stats, the most you are usually looking at for possible merit awards is relief from the out-of-state/international portion of tuition, meaning you would have to pay what an in-state resident pays. Also, as an international you need to submit the form and bank info which shows you can actually afford your first year costs and you won't be able to get a visa without being able to show that.

hey drusba, i actually have a question about bank statement...
I haven't sent it in yet but have to in order to complete my requirements.
So can i send it in through fax just to save on the time and the cost?
