I did horribly on the essay..I got a 5 on a mock ACT essay , but that's mainly because i didn't show the refute side. So on the real one i did it, and i got a 7... :( Does anyone have any advice to improve my writing (besides grammar)? Please try to give me specific details instead of general tips. Thank you.

well, all i can say is the essay si really conveying an argument. So either ur with it or against it. Most people would say going against it is harder, but with good arguments it will make ur essay look good.

a mock q: should students in high school take a finances class to better improve their knowledge in their spending habits?

so, y would u go against it? its all about creativity and making sure it makes sense. you can argue against it that 1) its a waste of time to learn something that we shouldnt be learning 2) its their free will to spend it however they like since their only high school students and thats what most of them would do anyways and 3) learning finances is so easy their our parents should be able to teach us.

again, these 3 reasons do convey 1 big reason, its from the first argument, its a waste of time to spend time in school taking a class that we shouldn’t be taking and that we shouldn’t be forced to but rather focus on the real education.

so my point: think of 1 big idea for either yes or no, and simply go after it. its really your opinion so ur mind really just has to think under it, what would u do and why.

the reasons can be simple, but your examples should be legitimate, so it u did this, it would do this. think logically and how it would make sense to really do it. So the tricks is to think quick about the question, dont focus too much on whether Yes is right or No is right, its your opinion that really matters and ur arguments that make sense.

Thank you!! I will take this into consideration for June :)
