Please help. I need somebody to clarify this! thanks.

When I went to ASSIT.ORG, I've read that colleges of engineering of UCs do not encourage transfer students to follow IGETC. Does that mean IGETC is NOT required if you apply engineering majors? I remember somebody told me I do not need to complete IGETC or be certified.

And what is the UC admission eligibility? I mean, I know what it is, but does that mean if I finish the courses for admission eligibility than I will be considered for admission? What's the difference between this and IGETC? Why do I have to finish IGETC?

note:

UC Transfer Admissions Eligibility Courses

A transfer applicant, according to the University of California, is a student who has graduated from high school and enrolled in a regular session at another college or university. According to this definition, a student cannot disregard his or her college record and apply as a freshman.

Transfer students should give top priority to completing a pattern of courses that satisfies the transfer admission requirements listed below. Completing this pattern is the minimum requirement for admission eligibility; it does not guarantee admission nor does it guarantee that a student will be prepared and competitive for admission to a specific UC campus or major.
