please i need help

hello, i am an international student but i am really confused if i should go to a community college first or a university, i if i want to go to a community college i want to go to SantaBarbaraCityCollege i got into WVU and SFSU and humboldt, but between them i like west virginia univ the most, so its between SBCC and wvu, what should i attend first , i am outta of time please help P.S: I want to pursue geology

WVU is a good option for geology. Can you afford it?

The reason for attending a California CC would be to save a bit of money before transferring to a 4-year public university in California for the last two years. However, unless the CCC that you are looking at has a very clear transfer agreement for your major at a 4-year public university in that state, it might not be the best choice.

Sit down with your parents and do the math. Which pathway is the most affordable one for you?

Contact the geology department at each of the universities, and ask what international students who graduate from their programs do after graduation. One might be better at getting you started on the career that you want.

@happymomof Hmm yes I can afford it , but my parents said if I can save money without LOSING any years then why not, A question community college is 2 years , are they both freshman years or one freshman and other sophomore?

You have an entire previous thread with good advice on this from geology major wenhen
<a href=“PLEASE HELP ME CHOOSE!! SFSU-WVU - College Search & Selection - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1624834-please-help-me-choose-sfsu-wvu-p1.html</a></p>

@brownparent i know i posted before but i got no reviews for SBCC only wvu!

They did discuss somewhat. You were given some reason from whenhen why it wasn’t too good of idea to start geology from a CC, I believe.

No one gives you advice because SBCC is a community college. Most people posting here are competitive students and they do directly to 4 years so that’s what the experience base is here. There just aren’t people who are as familiar with them, except California students in the transfer forum trying to get into UCs from their CCs. I have a hard time trying to figure out why you want to go to a CA CC if your target isn’t a UC. It doesn’t make sense to me. You have a 4 year with a pretty good program, right? So go there. If you do really well, and you want to move on or try for something better, put in a transfer application.

OK I see you found the CC forum. There is also a State Schools - Califormia forum. People in CA go to community college for only a couple of reasons:

To save money because they can’t afford a 4 year

They didn’t get into a UC and want to transfer in

They don’t have the grades to get into a CSU or other school of choice

hmm okay thats true! I guess ill be going to WVU ! @brownparent
