I think the thread was started because sometimes people answer as if they have had experience in that area - for example (and pllleeaassse, let's not get into this discussion again), there has been an on-going discussion about financial aid and how it is awarded. Some posters had said things that were very generalized based on the experience of one or two people. Knowing if those posters are kids is helpful to know how to respond. Obviously, people can lie as well.

I hope that someone can contact edcon22 and get her back on the board.

With all due respect to the parties involved here, I do understand Roger's position on Edconsultant22's presence on this board. And I understand Edconsultant's handling of the situation.

Very professional on everyone's part.

Remember CC is not just a forum for people with nothing better to do than to troll. They sell College placement assistance services. Now while Edconsultant22 is not a direct competitor for CC's services, his services are very similar in nature.

And most boards like this expressly prohibit any commercial advertisement for services or references to other competitive resources, so I can see where Edconsultant22's presence does push the limits of CC's rules.

And Edconsultant22 has done everything here NOT to push the limits. In fact, I wonder at times why Edconsultant22 GIVES AWAY such valuable experience. It is a credit to Edconsultant22's professionalism that this help is given.

I wonder however if Roger (and the managers of CC) would consider bringing Edconsultant in to CC's staff (the business side) as a side business. It would be a logical outgrowth of CC's core business.

And on a personal note, I've enjoyed Edconsultant22's contribution to the forum and found it very enlightening. Many things I know now that would have been helpful before in understanding how things work.

Just as an example of how circumspect edconsultant22 has been...you probably didn't realize that he is actually a she. (The "Ed" part threw me off too.)

This forum benefits from her participation and it fills a gap that the college-oriented areas don't suffer from. And it keeps some prime prospects on board for when the CC business can be of service. So, while I immediately grasped the big picture reasoning, I regret that there didn't seem to be much effort made to add value and recognize the distinctions here that are worth noting...and, as you suggest, are even worth exploiting. Plus, the original concern seems to have been just dropped altogether.

Ok... I'll post the full thing now but sum it up in my posts:

I'm a freshman at a local public school reapplying to boarding schools. Last year I was WLed at Choate, Hotchkiss, and Andover and rejected from Taft.
